WORK OPPORTUNITIES

about the farm

We are a 26 acre regenerative organic farm 20 minutes north of Santa Cruz on the Pacific coast. We grow delicious and nutritious foods – over 80 crops – for our U-Pick, farm stand, farmers markets, online shop, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, and caterers, restaurants and wholesale customers. The farm has 5 acres of mixed vegetables, flowers, and herbs, 2 acres of blackberries, 1/3 acre of kiwis, and 1 acre of basketry willows, and is the site for our many permaculture courses. We are establishing an extensive food forest orchard and watershed regeneration demonstration. We have an ocean view and access to Ano Nuevo Creek. We can see the ocean from our farm and it is a 10 minute walk to the sands of the state park beach.

work With Us!

At the Santa Cruz Permaculture Farm

We offer a variety of ways to work on the farm, all meeting different individual needs and learning goals. We welcome a mixed group of work traders, WWOOFers, interns, volunteers, and employees, coming together to immerse in meaningful labor and community. The Santa Cruz Permaculture Farm is a production farm with an emphasis on teaching – join us and learn!

Farm helpers can always be assured of meeting new people, learning how to grow crops, and leaving with the good tired feeling. While we aren’t staffed for impromptu visits, scroll down to see if these opportunities meet your need to get your hands dirty!

WWOOF 1- AND 6-MONTH IMMERSIONS

WWOOF stands for WorldWide Opportunities on Organic Farms and is a worldwide organization. SCP Farm is a WWOOF host site – check out our listing here. WWOOFers live and work on the farm, trading labor for accommodations, food, and learning. WWOOFers will learn farming as well as skills for starting a farm including the full range of market gardening, as well as permaculture principles and practices as they relate to running a local, regenerative farm and education center. We hope to send our WWOOFers out into the world with the knowledge and skills they need to build sustainable, regenerative farms that support local food systems.

Work Trade for Courses

If you’d like to lower the cost of tuition for our courses, while gaining knowledge and experience in agriculture, our work trade program is for you! Most students choose to pay a portion of the tuition and exchange work on the farm for the remainder.

Fill out our work trade application below, where you’ll find more information on our work exchange hourly rate and share your availability.

Internships

Learn how to farm while earning college credit! We’ll always answer questions and provide guidance and explanations as we go. Learn by doing on a production farm!

Volunteers

If you’d like to check out our farm and get your hands dirty, join us for a volunteer day. If you’d like to volunteer, fill out our volunteer registration form below. Please do not show up to the farm to volunteer without RSVP’ing using this form, and without getting a confirmation email from us that the volunteer day is happening. We sometimes cancel volunteer days if we do not have enough RSVP’s or due to rain.
