work With Us!
At the Santa Cruz Permaculture Farm
We offer a variety of ways to work on the farm, all meeting different individual needs and learning goals. We welcome a mixed group of work traders, WWOOFers, interns, volunteers, and farm employees, coming together to immerse in meaningful labor and community. The Santa Cruz Permaculture Farm is a production farm with an emphasis on teaching – join us and learn!
Work includes:
- Farming – Thursday and/or Friday from 8am – 4pm
- Event support at farm dinners and festivals
- Kitchen/camp support for summer intensive courses
- Special projects/ocassional weekends
The Santa Cruz Permaculture Farm is located on Hwy 1, 20 minutes north of Santa Cruz, and a 15 minute walk from the beach at Ano Nuevo State Park. Farm helpers can always be assured of meeting new people, learning how to grow crops, and leaving with the good tired feeling. While we aren’t staffed for impromptu visits, scroll down to see if one of our work opportunities will meet your need to get your hands dirty!

Work Trade for Courses
If you’d like to lower the cost of tuition for our courses, while gaining knowledge and experience in agriculture, our work trade program is for you! Most students choose to pay a portion of the tuition and exchange work on the farm for the remainder.
Fill out our work trade application below, where you’ll find more information on our work exchange hourly rate and share your availability.
Internships
Learn how to farm while earning college credit! Our 2-unit intern crew works on the farm Fridays from 8-3 with a 1-hour break for lunch. The 10 week internship includes work such as harvesting, planting, irrigation, weeding, pruning, and other farm tasks. We’ll always answer questions and provide guidance and explanations as we go. Learn by doing on a production farm!
