About the Farm
Santa Cruz Permaculture is a 26.5 acre diversified farm overlooking the Pacific near Año Nuevo State Beach, between Davenport and Pescadero. We are certified by both CCOF and the Real Organic Project. This ground has been farmed organically for thirty years, most of that under Swanton Berry Farm.
Our market garden grows strawberries, kiwis, goldenberries, peppers, tomatoes, winter squash, artichokes, and dozens of vegetables, herbs and flowers through the season. Alongside it we are building the slower systems: a water retention landscape that reshapes this ground to hold water instead of shedding it, a willow field, perennial plantings, and a food forest orchard going in now. Farming here is as much about the next thirty years as this season’s harvest.
About the Internship
Learn how to farm while earning college credit at a working farm 20 minutes north of Santa Cruz on the Pacific coast. Every Friday is a field day grounded in permaculture and agroecology – hands-on work, a weekly journal, and a layered learning community where newer interns work alongside more experienced student farmers.
Students who commit to fall, winter, and spring become Yearlong Fellows and receive a full tuition waiver for our Permaculture Design Certificate course (valued at $1,395). The PDC begins October 3, 2026.
