In this practical and fun class, participants will learn how to make, source, and use many herbal medicines. We will cover herb categories including Adaptogens, Calmatives/Sedatives, Aromatics, Qi Tonics, and Harmonizers that can be grown in our gardens or sourced locally. We are also offering a one-day herb walk in Santa Cruz with Paula and Darren. The Herb Walk will focus on wild herbs that can be found in local ecosystems and the foraging side of herbalism.
Registration for the Herb Walk is separate and is not included in the full course tuition. The content of the course and herb walk will be different, so folks are encouraged to register for both, although this is not a requirement.

About Darren Huckle
Darren is passionate about the study, practice, and teaching of holistic health. He has spent over 20 years cultivating a deep knowledge of holistic life skills including western and Chinese herbal medicines, organic farming, nutrition, meditation, and Qi Gong. He is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, and teaches at Five Branches University, Esalen Institute, and University of California, Santa Cruz. A dynamic teacher and clinician, Darren loves his work and constantly expands his understanding of the human condition in wellness and sickness.

About Paula Grainger
Paula Grainger graduated as an herbalist from The University of Westminster in London, England in 2004. She works with clients on both sides of the Atlantic as an herbal wellness practitioner, and delights in sharing her love of plant medicines through teaching and writing about herbs. She is the creator of The English Herbalist range of herbal skincare products and has authored two books: ADAPTOGENS and INFUSE: Herbal Teas to Cleanse Nourish and Heal, which has been translated into more than ten languages. Paula brings her deep knowledge of the ancestral British herbal tradition to the California herb garden.

How do I register?
Please use the PayPal link above. Registration for the Full Course includes access to all course sessions. There is a PayPal Handing Fee included in the price. You do not need a PayPal account to register. Clicking on the Pay Now button will take you to the PayPal site, and then once you make your payment please fill out the additional form to complete registration.
What should I bring to class?
Please bring sun hat, a 16 or 32 oz jar with lid for making garden teas, comfortable shoes for walking, and a notebook.
What is the refund policy?
For the Full Course, cancellations up to two weeks before the course begins will be refunded, excluding a $125 processing fee. No refunds are given after that date.
For the Herb Walk, cancellations up to two weeks before the event will be refunded $35 (half of the event cost). No refunds are given after that date.
